In a survey of people's religious beliefs, carried out in the US, the UK, Israel, India, South Korea, Indonesia, Nigeria, Russia, Mexico and Lebanon in January 2004 in the ICM poll for the BBC programme What The World Thinks Of God suggests that Nigeria is the most religious nation in the world, where over 90% of said they believed in God, prayed regularly and would die for their belief. The highest levels of belief were found in some of the world's poorer countries, as well as in the US. See the results at BBC NEWS

... and the happiest on earth
and another study of more than 65 countries published in the UK's New Scientist magazine suggests that the happiest people in the world live in Nigeria - and the least happy, in Romania. People in Latin America, Western Europe and North America are happier than their counterparts in Eastern Europe and Russia. The survey appears to confirm the old adage that money cannot buy happiness.
